SKC Parallel Particle Impactors (PPIs) – 8 Litre/min.

  HIRE Kit containing 4 off PPIs and a calibrator.

These Parallel Particle Impactors (PPIs) are high performance, reusable Thoracic and Respirable PM Samplers.

Each unit has the power of 4 standard respirable sampling heads in one small, conductive aluminium sampler.  It provides the closest match to the ACGIH/ISO/CEN thoracic or respirable conventions.

Disposable pre-oiled porous Plastic Impaction Substrates reduce the negative effects that particle buildup and bounce can have on the sample accuracy, by firmly trapping larger particles.

Unlike other samplers, the sampling efficiency of the PPI is not dependent on the collected particle type.

Note

50 pre-oiled Impaction Substrates are provided with Hire Kit – 4 required for each sample head/sample collected.

• These are 8 L/min Respirable models which provide enhanced sampling sensitivity for WEL/TWA silica and other compounds with low target concentrations.
• Ideal for short term task monitoring. It is referenced in MDHS 14/4.

Parallel Particle Impactor (PPI) samplers contain four small impactors in the inlet section of the device (see diagram below).

 

Each impactor features a unique 50% cut-point to target a specific one-quarter segment of the ISO/CEN curve resulting in a precise fit along the entire curve.

The sampling pump pulls air through the inlet nozzle of each impactor in the inlet plate. Particles larger than each impactor’s 50% cut-point are scrubbed and retained on the porous oiled impaction substrate, while smaller particles continue to the standard 37 mm collection filter for analysis.

The kit also contains a DryCal primary calibrator (or equivalent).  The DryCal DC-Lite offers a primary flow standard that can be used for accurate calibration of the air sampling pumps.  Displays flow rate, flow average with number of readings – no fiddling with rotameters.

Note: The hire equipment does not include collection media (such as the pre-weighed filters) or analysis of collected samples.  We can provide guidance on these items and labs for analysis if required.
